Remember why...

Why do we celebrate Christmas & how should we celebrate Christmas?

Why: in my heart I celebrate because it's the birth of my Lord and savior. I want to give thanks to God for sending his son as a precious baby to this earth for us. It's his birthday, but commercialism has taken the joy and fun out of Christmas with the constant chatter of buying gifts and beating each other down for the last on sale item at Walmart. I know everyone enjoys receiving gifts because I do too, but when it becomes the only thing we care about on Christmas then we have truly lost the real reason we celebrate.

Most stores you shop in today for Christmas gifts won't allow their employees to say, "Merry Christmas" because they're afraid of affending someone of a different faith, so they just say "Happy Holidays."

So therefore, the Christmas season has become more of a selfish season than anything. There isn't any joy in it without Jesus, because He is the reason for the season.

He was born, He was sacrificed, and He was resurrected from the dead. He deserves celebration. He is the holy, pure, true lamb of God, and really we should celebrate Him everyday, not just on Christmas. We should celebrate Him daily with our lives and how we live them.
He is our King.

We should take time to celebrate this time with joy, laughter, family and telling others about Jesus' birth, and why He was born.

You could possibly change someone's life. Be the light that leads someone out of darkness.

Live for Him

Be in the moment...

(Photo cred to: Free people blog)

As I sit here on this snowy November night, I am pondering about eating all of my Ben & Jerry's ice-cream in one sitting, but also thinking about the exquisite genius and heart wrenching love story turned bitter end of Wuthering Heights. How my mind can go from one extreme to the next is beyond me.

Nights like these make me wish I was an eight year old kid again, hoping and wishing for Santa Claus to come soon, and also bring me a Barbie doll house. The snow, and bitter cold make me think of my happy childhood memories, like sitting around the Christmas tree and watch the twinkling lights shine through the glass ornament of the tree. Those were simpler times for me then. When you are young you want so much to grow up, and be who you wanna be. When you actually become an adult you want to be a kid again, as if some time machine will be created and you can return to your more youthful free days.

I've noticed the older I get the less time we seem to have for everything, everyone is so busy, with work, school and whatever time filling thing we seem to be into these days. We spend our days creating schedules, dropping kids off at school, texting, being on social media, fast food drive-thru windows, mind numbing jobs that are slowly breaking our bodies down into withering nothings. No one takes time to do anything that could possibly saturate their hearts or souls, no one takes time to have a great, stimulating conversation with anyone, we don't sit down a drink coffee with someone over some cherry pie, we don't call just to chat anymore, we don't sit down a read a classic novel anymore, or even sit down and talk to our children or families about their day. Its a sorrowful day when we would rather act as if our minds have no ability to produce a thought that we could converse with someone about.

I want to change this. I want my focus to be on every moment of my life, because if our eyes are on our screens and our minds are somewhere else, our moments are passing us by, and one day we will regret it unless we decide to make a change.

Put down your cell phones, pick up a book, and expand your mind a little further than the unfortunate illiteracy of this generation. Turn off your television, and turn on conversation with your loved ones. Have sit down dinners, have family discussions, join a club or something, just avert your eyes from anything that takes away your moments, those are the moments that could possibly saturate your heart in warmth and love. Those moments change your life forever.

Instead of looking at Kim Kardashians bum on the internet, please, I'm begging you do something more productive and possibly life changing with yourself.

Hallo-rosie

This years Halloween was the best as far as my costume goes. I was super proud of myself.

I hardly ever do anything for Halloween, but I think I've decided to create a look every year now, because it was so fun!!

My look this year was Rosie the Riveter.
I chose her because she represents strength in women of the work force. My goal every year is to portray a strong woman from our nations history.

My outfit:

Jean top: Old Navy
Red cami: Cato Fashions
Grey Skinny Jean Rockstar: Old Navy
Boots: Walmart $25
Red polka dot bandana: Amazon.com

My makeup:

Loreal Classic ivory concealer
Loreal lift foundation
Avon peach blush
Loreal setting translucent face powder
Benefit "They're real" mascara
Maybeline Stiletto liquid eye liner
Bite red lipstick

My family and I had a blast, we had a little get together at my grandparents house. My mom made white chili, and I made regular chili, as well as chocolate chip cookies.

We all gathered together to spend time with one another, we laughed and watched Halloween 5, which I should have never watched in the first place because I had a nightmare that night about Michael Myers. 😱

We were in hopes of a halloween bonfire and s'mores, but the rain washed our hopes away.

So instead we stayed inside, ate tons of candy, and played with my little 1 year old cousin Autumn.

It's always fun to gather with family. Always remember family is forever. Love your family no matter who they are. You never know when it might be too late to spend time with them, or tell them you love them. Show them how kind and loving you are, and that you're there for them if they need you. Sometimes you can look at your family and think "Gosh, we are a mess!" But if you think about it, it wouldn't be you if you weren't a mess.

Appreciate what you have, while you have it. Don't neglect any moments, take every moment in, and store it where you'll never forget how you felt during it.

(Feeling pretty tough right here)

Have you ever had someone's make you feel inferior, or as worthless as a speck of dust floating around in the air?

Has that person rolled their eyes at things you say, or put you down in a "jokingly" manner in front of others, or even make you feel like they could either take you or leave you, it wouldn't affect them at all?

I have, and it's not fun, it's heartbreaking, especially when you thought you had a good relationship with this person and you were very close to them, then you come to find out it seems like the whole thing is one sided. It hurts.

But, that's when you need to stop feeling sorry for yourself, you didn't lose them. They lost you, somehow.

I am a very lovable, easy going, laid back kinda of person, I love to love people, those that will let me. If I trust you, I will be very open with you about everything. Don't get me wrong, I have my days when I just wanna be by myself, and be a hermit. But I have more good days than bad.

But some people for some reason aren't like that.

They can seem closed up, cold and not able to receive love at times.

I have not come up with a solution to this problem yet other than don't let their attitude affect your loving nature. Keep being who you are, don't resolute to being cold and distant to keep from getting hurt. Just be you.

If you feel the need to confront the person about why they act the way they do, then do it, but only do it with love and concern for your friendship with them.

Some people just don't know how to show they care about you in a friendship, I don't know why, they just don't.

But one thing is for sure, if they make you feel like less of a person when you're around them, and they put you down and make you feel inferior, get them out of your life. You don't need that negativity.

You need people to encourage you, tell you what you're capable of, lift you up, and you need a friend you can trust.

And also be the kind of friend you would want to have. You don't want a friend that never checks on you, never tells you to have a good day, never listens, never prays with them or for them, never offer a helping hand. You want someone you can depend on, for many things like: advice, midnight phone calls, Netflix buddy, food junkie, prayer, laughter, help anytime you need it, and encouraging words.

Even though you may be friends with someone, they may tell you a lot, but not everything. They could keep the deepest darkest part of their life hidden, maybe because they are ashamed, or hurt, but always be aware that they could be hurting in some way, and your words or actions could make or break them, especially if you're their bestfriend.

The title BESTFRIEND is a BIG title to me. And it should only be given to those you trust whole heartedly. I for instance have 2 best-friends: Jesus, and Chelsea. They are the only two I trust with EVERYTHING.

Choose your friends wisely, and pray for those that don't wanna be your friend, and tell yourself it ok that they don't.

What weekend?

I hate that the weekends go by SO FAST, but nevertheless we have to face the week sometime, so what better time than the present right?

I'm gonna tell you a little about my weekend, it was nothing fancy but it had wonderful perks.

Friday: this was the last night of our church's revival services, and we had a wonderful  time. We worshiped the Lord, listened to preaching and fellow shipped together afterward. We went to Frisch's and ate after church that night. I am afraid we overwhelmed the waitresses with the size of our group that abruptly challenged their night, we had a good number of 20 people with us, so that is a lot of people to feed. We sat down, ordered our food and playfully threw wadded up straw wrappers at each others faces, and of course picking them up off of the floor after we missed. To say the least, we ate, laughed, talked, and maybe ate too much, payed our bills and left. We most likely left the waitresses and chefs with an amazing amount of relief when we FINALLY walked out the doors as well.

Saturday: I unashamedly slept in until 10:30, and ate guacamole for breakfast.
Once again I say, unashamedly.

Then after long pauses of thinking about hitting up the gym, I just wasn't feeling it that day. So instead, I got ready and picked up my bestfriend, and we partook in an adventurous Saturday full of shopping, food, starbucks, cute guys, and movies we shouldn't watch because we are WAY too emotional. But to put it plainly, Saturday was cool.

Sunday: Sunday is the Lords day, so yes we spent time at church this morning and evening, and both times were supremely wonderful. God is good. We also ate too many carbs, sang along badly to folk songs we don't know the words to, and ended our night with THE WALKING DEAD!!

I must say, I know how to do the weekend.

I know this blog post was short, and I hope it was a little sweet, but if not, well, I really don't care.

Oh, and just a friendly reminder: brush your teeth.

Xoxo,
Kiersten

P.s. I really do care.

My heart

I have no clue what the subject of this is supposed to be, but I'm writing it anyways.

This past week has been so amazingly eye opening for me, in many ways.

My church just held our revival services, and each one was so amazing, life changing, spirit stirring and heart renewing. I don't want revival to ever leave my soul. I wanna stay on fire for God, and make a difference in this world.

During this revival I grew closer to God, he drew closer to me, he healed me in ways I didn't know I needed healing, emotionally, spiritually and physically. He made me realize that I need to step up my game.

If I could give everyone a portion of how spectacularly wonderful I feel right now I would, because I never want to NOT feel this way. God can give you the most wonderful feelings, feelings that no human being could ever give you. He will make you feel loved, whole, pure, needed, wanted, and many other wonderful things that I couldn't possibly list.

I couldn't imagine my life without Him, He makes me who I am today. I wasn't always so chipper, loving or caring. At one point in my life, I had hate and bitterness in my heart against people, I was lost. I didn't know who I was, or who I wanted to be, until one day I was in the car going somewhere with my family and I thought quietly  to myself, "there is something missing in my life."

I never told anyone about my thought, not one word.

I went to church one night, on a Wednesday, and during alter call the pastor walked over to me and said, "Do you ever feel like something's missing in your life?" Then he held out his hand and prayed with me, as tears rolled down my cheeks, I could feel relief in me.

And at that moment I knew, there was something missing, and that something was a SOMEONE, His name is God.

I remember crying, and praying. I let go of everything from my past, things that haunted me. I let go and let God. I let  Him take my heart and my life, and he molded me and shaped me into a lady after his heart. He is still to this very day, molding me and shaping me into a lady of God.

Now, I'm not saying since I follow God that everything is peachy keen, because I still have many struggles and trials. But during those struggles and trials God is always there, helping me through them.

He promises to never leave us or forsake us, and He has held true to His promise.

I wish there were words for me to describe to you who God is and why I love Him so much, but I can't.

What I can tell you is He will never disappoint you. He is my provider, Father in Heaven, my hope, my joy, my everything. He is God almighty.

A dream is a wish..your heart makes.

Have you ever had the passion to do something with all of your heart?

Has it been on your mind every waking moment of the day?

You want to get started on your dream, but there are things in the way, or you feel like you aren't equipped to do what you really want.

I struggle with the same thing.

I have HUGE dreams.

And I struggle everyday with how I am going to accomplish them, and it seems like there is always something else for me to do like: going to the gym, making dinner, cleaning or getting distracted.

I have decided I am going to take ahold of my dreams, and not let anything or anyone hinder me from getting them accomplished.

My dream is to finish writing my novel, and get published.

So if I have to write every moment of the day, and keep getting inspired, then I will do it.

Writing is one of my passions, out of many, and it is most of the reason I wanted to start this blog.

I want to inspire people, and get their minds rolling with ideas, hopes and fill their hearts with dreams.

I want to make someone who feels so insignificant and unimportant that they are special and have a place in this world and most importantly in Gods heart.

I have felt insignificant for most of my life, an it isn't something g I want anyone else to feel. I want my writing to be someone's comfort, and something they can read to let their worries go for a while. I want my writing to be adventurous, romantic, fun and freeing.

So this day and this moment, I'm going to keep on keeping on, I am going to continue to write, continue to pray, and continue to dream.

My God can and has promised me the desires of my heart.

I just want to make a difference in this world today.

Follow your dreams, and pray to God for guidance. No dream is too big, or too small.

Kiersty

The cozy days are a-comin'

Fall, Autumn, Cuddling weather, whatever you call it, it's here!

Fall is my favorite season of all, because of the beautiful colors the leaves turn, the brisk chill in the air, and not to mention pumpkin spice lattes.

There are so many things about fall that I couldn't possibly list in this blog right now, but let's just say it's an amazing cozy season.

Around this time of year my brain goes crazy about the fashion for fall. The boots, sweaters, scarves and plaid button down shirts.

I have been searching and searching for the perfect boots for fall. These boots are short and laced up, these are better for bigger calf muscles and playing in the leaves, or just a casual stroll down the street. I LOVE the brownish camel color.
These will be my fall must haves this year, gotta find them. Pinterest is a really good search engine for things you are interested in buying, just type what you're looking for in the search bar, and scroll until you find what you're looking for, and most likely it will lead you to the website you can find them at.

Scarves are another fall must have of mine, especially in mustard, chocolate, black and grey colors. You can pair a thin or chunky wool scarve with just about any outfit, and it makes the outfit itself complete and adorable. And if you don't know exactly how to tie your scarf, you can search either youtube or Pinterest and videos or pictures may help you.
It's very easy to do.

Here's another must have for fall and every fall, CARAMEL APPLES!

Who doesn't love caramel apples? The yummy gooey-ness of the caramel and hard crunch of the apple is positively heaven.

(P.s. I will write a blog on how to make homemade caramel apples soon, stay tuned)

Last but not least, my fall must have is hot beverages. Any hot drink this fall and winter will do. My personal favorites are salted caramel mocha and frapp (frapps are cold, btw) pumpkin spice latte, and hot chocolate.

The first three drinks I listed are from Starbucks and are absolutely amazing!!

I look for the salted caramel frapp every fall season because it's so mind blowingly tasty.

So next time you're out and about just slide by your local barista and grab some fall in a cup.

And if you're home and want to save money but still want a great tasting hot beverage, check out food networks website for amazing hot cocoa recipes.

So that's it folks, my fall must haves!!

I will post pics of my buys when I buy them!!

Happy Fallness!!

My Old Kentucky Home

The picture above is part of the drive to my grandparents house on one of the back roads of Kentucky, and it's quite breath taking.

I will never regret growing up in Kentucky. Kentucky usually gets a bad rep and has developed  a lot of rumors over time of how we are country bumpkins that aren't educated and marry our cousins. I'm not saying those characteristics aren't true for some people, but they shouldn't define my beautiful state.

As a little girl growing up in Kentucky, I've enjoyed weekend getaways to Nolin Lake, four wheeler riding, fishing with my Papaw, and learning how to cook from my Nana, and it was the best experience.

Growing up here has made me into the woman I am today.

So, if you're reading this and have never visited my beautiful state, I am inviting you.

Come enjoy the bluegrass state all while sipping on some sweet tea and eating the best fried chicken you've ever tasted.

We have lakes, rivers, creeks and streams.

We also have barns, corn fields, gravel roads, and good food.

So, come by and say hi.

Roasted Red Potatoes

Roasted Red Potatoes.

You'll need:

1 baking sheet
Aluminum foil
Olive oil
Garlic salt
Black pepper
Butter
Red Potatoes

Preheat your oven at 400 degrees.

Cut your desired amount of potatoes the way you like, preferably medium thickness, thin enough to cook through to your desired tenderness.

Spread potatoes out on your aluminum foil lined baking sheet.

Pour about 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil over potatoes and toss them around so they all get coated.

Then, sprinkle 2 teaspoons of Garlic salt all over the potatoes.

Then,  add teaspoon of Black Pepper. (Sprinkle all potatoes)

Give them a good toss, to make sure they are all coated, and evenly seasoned.

Then you can take a tablespoon of butter, melt it in the microwave in a glass bowl, and pour the butter over the potatoes.

When oven is preheated, put the potatoes in and bake for 30-35 minutes.

Turn after 15 minutes.

Plans for Labor Day.

So who has plans for Labor Day?

Not me!!

I plan to not make plans....wait.....uh....what?

You got it.

I am going to lay by the pool, read, wear no makeup at all, eat what I want, and take a nap on my pool float.

Sounds good doesn't it?

Sometimes you need too take time for yourself, and rest.

Your body needs some TLC.

No, not TLC as in crazy, sexy, cool, or no scrubs.

I mean Tender, Loving, Care, or R&R.

Sometimes we are constantly moving and going somewhere, or doing something.

We can easily wear ourselves down and become unpleasant and not fun to be around.

So this weekend, make plans to not make plans.

If you have plans you can cancel, cancel them.

If you have a hobby, something you like to do, do it.

Be creative.
Be fun.
Relax.

Put on some awesome shades, and just chill out.

Or....run a hot bath, add some lovely smelling bubble soap to it and listen to soft music to relax.

Pamper yourself.

Do whatever makes you happy.

Breath, in and out.
Take in the scenery.

If we slow down, we can enjoy life more.

When we rush through life we miss important moments.
We miss conversation, in person conversation.

We spend too much time on our cell phones, on social media or in front of the tv.

Things in our world today have become so impersonal, and selfish.

We have become too consumed by things that really don't matter.

That's right, I said it.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest do NOT matter in our life today, we do not need them to survive.

I'm not saying I wish those sites were never created, because I am, but what I'm saying is we don't need them every hour, every minute at our fingertips.

So, put down your phone, get out, or stay in, but just be present.

Xoxo,
Kiersty

Glendale = Amazingness (not a real word)

Ok, so as most of you know because I like to inform people of the fun things I do, because its awesome, I went to Glendale, Ky today.

To say the least, Glendale was a little slice of heaven.

But.....I'm not going to say the least, I'm going to add on to that statement.

Glendale: the weather was perfect today, the food was exquisite, the hospitality was top notch, the men and women that work at Whistle Stop were extremely sweet, and may I just say again how AMAZING the food was?!

(Sorry, this was after we dug into it all)

If you don't know this, which you probably don't, I LOVE antique shops.

To restate that, I love to shop.

Every store clerk was welcoming, and helpful, some even gave me and my bestfriend coffee. I love coffee too, so I was a happy camper.

I loved every store. Even the ones with weird stuff, like the pic below.

(This little Santa was wearing more eye shadow than me, and kinda looks like MiMi from Drew Carey show)

Yes, I went into every store, and browsed from top to bottom.

I may not be able to remember the names of every store but some I can remember the dates they were built.

The first store, I bought a lovely floral, metal framed picture, I had to have it.

Florals and anything vintage just scream my name. I bought this beautiful picture at the circa 1917 shop. I think I loved being in the building more than shopping there, and not because they didn't have wonderful things because they did, but because of the buildings history.

Just by looking at the worn, stained, chipped, dark wood floor, I knew many people at a different time walked those same floors. There is something mind blowing about that to me.

Those floors may have been old, squeaky and chipped, but they were so beautiful.

What made them beautiful?

They had a story. That is why they were beautiful.

Little lesson: just because people step on you,  or you have been scratched, worn, had things thrown on you, doesn't make you unworthy of the word beautiful.
Life brings things, situations, problems and many other experiences, but at the end of the road, when you are still strong and holding on, just like that strong wood on those floors, you will be more beautiful after you've stood the test.
Those floors were once brand spanking new, and when the floor was first installed I'm sure people appreciated it for a while, but then forgot to appreciate it. But now, years later, I appreciated that beautiful oak floor.

Why?

Because we don't really see much real hardwood flooring anymore, it's all flooring that looks like the real deal.

So remember when you feel beat up, and worn for being you, and you think nobody appreciates you, don't worry. Don't sell out for the fake. Be you. Be real, scars and all.
People might forget who you are sometimes and how much they need a person like you, because you are that strong person, kinda like a strong foundation that won't give in under pressure, like that floor.

You could look at this message the wrong way or you could look at it how I am telling it.

To put it simply, be strong, stay real, and don't give in.

Lesson over, now back to my adventure.
__________________________________

The second thing I bought was a book.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm boring. But you will soon learn....my heart is kinda the heart of an 85 year old, instead of a 23 year old.

The book is by my favorite poet, Ralph Waldo Emerson.

There is something so captivating about his words on a page.

I must say I'm pretty proud of my buys today.

And did I mention that the book is a 1900  copy. I'm not sure what edition it is, but it's definitely an antique, and I'm in love with it. I will be taking it to work to sneak a read. Shhhh.

All in All, my best friend and I had a blast.

So Glendale, for this, I thank you.
I hope you will tolerate is again.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, I ate some peanut butter fudge from one of Glendales shops, and it was delish. A+.

After we left Glendale we visited my grandparent at their new house, and we ended the day with a funny movie.

We saw "Let's be Cops" which was HILARIOUS! But it did have some cussing, so don't take your kids to see it if you're thinking about it.

Today was a great adventure. We shall do it again soon, and very soon.

To end the night with a good note, I have some cool popcorn skills.

Good night!!

Weekend fun!!!

Ok,  so tomorrow is Friday and I am SUPER DE DOOPER excited for my weekend! So much so that I used the phrase, "SUPER DE DOOPER" which I don't do on a regular basis.

Let me tell ya why I am so excited:

FRIDAY, also known as "free-day" for me. (I get off of work for the weekend)
I will be going to the KENTUCKY STATE FAIR, I absolutely love the fair.

They have SO many exhibits, animals, FOOD, and entertainment.

My bestfriend and I like to sit at the Mike Linings tent because not only do they have delicious food, but they have a live karoke contest. We sit there, eat and listen to the performers. It can be quite hilarious at times, which is why we watch.

I love the food! There will be so much eating taking place.

For example: cotton candy, funnel cakes, hot dogs, and whatever else I can find.

Don't worry, I will most definitely take pictures and keep you updated on everything I do. I will most likely blog Friday night when I get home.

AND......SATURDAY!!!!

So, Saturday I have planned a mini road trip to Glendale, Ky for the day. Glendale is this cute little town with tons of antique shops, and my favorite restaurant "Whistle Stop." Glendale is kinda like Mayberry from Andy Griffith show. It's quiet, lovely, homey and the people are very kind.

If I could live there I totally would.

Let me just tell you about "Whistle Stop," it is a made from scratch, down home, country cooking kind of place. This cozy place is settled right by the railroad tracks in Glendale, and it reminds me of the same restaurant from the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes."

My favorite thing from there is the chicken salad, fried pickles AND butter scotch pie, it is simply to die for.

I highly recommend this little town and scrumptious spot to eat.

I will post pictures from my trip to Glendale  Saturday evening. If anyone has any questions about anything from this post, please don't hesitate to ask.

Remember to live free.

Kiersty

Live your dreams....

I spend most of my days dreaming of things I want in life, for my family and I and for the world.

It's never to late to live your dreams.
Dream bigger and better thn you did yesterday.

If you want it, work for it. Life doesn't hand you things you want, sure, we receive blessing from The Lord above, but we should also do for ourselves.

Work hard, be kind, and laugh every day.

Some of my big dreams are:

Finish college
Own a old farmhouse
Own a big piece of land
Grow a huge garden of veggies
Grow peach and apple trees
Grow lavender
Raise chickens for eggs
Sell eggs
Write books
Paint everyday
Walk my land everyday
Own a basset hound
Travel Europe
Have a tin roof
Listen to the rain with the windows open
Hike at least once every two weeks
Publish my poetry
Go to smithsonian
Dance on my wrap around porch with my  future love to Billie Holiday
Own a lake house & canoe
Go to a Uk basketball game once a year
Get married
Make a difference in the world

I know, I know, this is a long list of things that seem impossible.
But, to quote the elegant Audrey Hepburn, "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'M POSSIBLE!!"

When people tell you that your dreams are too big, tell them their mind is too small, because anything is possible with hard work, prayer and persistence.

Live your dreams.

The art of losing.

You may be wondering why the title of this blog post suggests that there is art in loss, well, there sorta is.

When you lose something or someone, you go through a state of shock at first, you can't believe they're gone, it doesn't seem real.

You may even have dreams about this person.

Then after you've accepted the fact that they're gone, it still hurts so freaking bad that your heart literally cries, it sobs tears of sorrow and so do you.

Your mind wants to feel better, but you just can't, you CAN'T!!!

So everyday, you grieve, cry, sleep. Repeat.

But then time goes on. It has to. Time can't stand still, and neither can you.

It's not that you've forgotten about that person, the way they made you laugh, the way they smiled or even the way their voice sounded.

It's just at some point you have to start your life again, for them.

It's hard to live without someone that you've lived so well with for many years.

It's hard not to wanna hug them, kiss them and tell them you love them.

But, sometimes you just have to start over.

Just like an artist and his blank canvas, he will spend days upon months and sometimes years on a painting, he puts every bit of himself, his life, his blood sweat and tears into his work.

And when this beautiful, glorious masterpiece is finished he has to start over again, on a blank canvas, to create something beautiful again. Again.
(Pablo Picasso "crying woman")

Then that previous canvas, that beautiful work of art gets to be appreciated by all who pass by it and see it hanging in a gallery.

So, when you are having to start over again, just picture yourself and your life as the new blank canvas, and God the artist.

Live free. Love wildly. Love God.

These are a few of my favorite things...

I fall in love so easily with inanimate objects, and I have to tell you all about them. So here goes....

My bestfriend Chelsea just got back from her vacation to Gatlinburg, Tenneesee and she brought me back the cutest "Breakfast at Tiffany's" mug.

I love anything about that movie or Audrey Hepburn. Chelsea knew how much I would love it, so she sweetly bought it for me.

This mug comes in handy because every night before bed I drink hot tea, because it relaxes me and makes me ready to snuggle into my bed for snoozeville.

On to my next favorite thing which is what goes into my mug. I usually drink hot green tea with organic simple truth honey, but this week I have discovered a new tea called "Orange Spice" by Bigelow. This tea is AMAZING, and if you add a dash of cinnamon it tastes just like Christmas time.

My third favorite thing is: hiking.

Hiking has become so fulfilling for me this summer. I guess because of the nature, the climbing and being able to think in the quietness of the forest.

It's a very tranquil experience, and to say the least, it gets your blood and heart pumping.

Being out in the midst of nature for instance the trees, flowers and wild life is very inspiring.

Letting yourself get out of the house for a couple hours every day to breath fresh air, and experience something different will definitely make an impact on your day and life.

So try something new today. Don't waste your life wishing you should have.

I remember one of my teachers in middle school used to say, "Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda."

Don't live life with regrets, get out and live. When I say live, I don't mean drink alcohol until you don't remember your own name, I mean experience creation, experience the world, go see new places and meet new people. You never know what you may find when you step outside of your comfort zone.

Live fearlessly.

What constitutes beauty?

Beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

What constitutes beauty?

Hair? Nails? Eye color? Eye shape? Body type?

In our world today there is a lot of pressure to be thin and "beautiful"

Women and men go to extreme lengths to be looked upon as beautiful.

Plastic surgery, hair dye, colored contacts, excessive exercise, and constant  primping is what fills the minds of most people today.

But who says you aren't already beautiful?
The world.

Don't let the world judge you.

Easier said than done, right?

Well, in my opinion everyone is beautiful, because you are a creation, you're a life, there is something inevitably beautiful about that.

No matter your wardrobe, hair color, eye color or body type, you are the only you there is, so own it, be free, live free and enjoy your life.

I'm not saying don't take care of yourself or your body, but what I am saying is you are more than a body, you have depth, you have a soul and interests.

Explore your interests and see the underlying beauties of this world. Not all beauty lyes on the surface, sometimes they're just below the surface.

Be a strong willed woman or man, and know your self worth, know that you do not equal to what this world says you are.

You are more than your hips, thighs, hair and eyes.

You are you.

Be creative, kind, loving. Be an explorer of all things interesting and wild. Live your life, it's as simple as that.

You don't want to look back on your life with regrets, you want to look back and see that you took chances, and made life exciting and ever changing.

I don't want to live my life in constant remorse over my body, or it's imperfections, everyone has imperfections and I guess that's why we are all so beautiful.

Live happy. Live free. Live fearless.

The good, the bad and the....

Every girl deals with "that time of the month" and let me take a guess, it's not your favorite time of the month.

Being a female means having to deal with periods, but maybe we don't have to "deal."

Do things for yourself to make your cycle less excruciating, for instance I buy dove dark chocolate and and read my favorite books.

Do something for yourself, indulge in something you love. Eat the chocolate, watch your favorite tear jerker, do anything that will make your time easier.

Why be miserable?

We should feel feminine, and beautiful, but most likely you feel frumpy, bloated, and irratated. When you start to feel that way, get away, go for a walk, nap, take a long hot bath with soft music, candles and bubbles. Do anything that will help you through that dreaded "visit from Aunt Flo."

Another tip for the menstrating woman: get plenty of sleep.

For cramps: I'm not a doctor but for me, naproxen helps which is in Alieve.
I also use icy hot, this helps reduce cramping. I rub the icy hot along my lower tummy, where your uterus and ovaries are. Heating pads can help reduce cramps too.

Attention: (make sure you read the directions on all of these products, and use to your preference)

The above picture pretty much explains it all, big props to whoever created it.

I love weekends!

Weekends...

This past weekend was fabulous, as always. As I blogged last week, I told you that I was going to see a movie on Friday, and I did. My bestfriend whom I do most everything with and I went to see "Blended" starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler.

It was such a cute movie by my standards, it wasn't raunchy, or grotesque in any way.

We laughed and "oohed and awed" during this movie and I would most likely watch it again. In my opinion this movie is fine for every age.

Drew and Adam never disappoint me.

Before Chelsea and I went to our movie we had a major craving for frozen yogurt, so we went to "Sweet Savannah's" we love it there. We have been eating there a lot since they brought out Nutella in a squeezable bottle to put on your froyo.

I got the vanilla froyo, with fresh strawberries, peanut butter and Nutella on top. I must say, I can create a masterpiece with Nutella, it was so delicious.

By the end of the night we had eaten our weight in carbs and sweets, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Which one shall I choose?

Ok Ladies, I am going to the movies this weekend, and I will be seeing one of these movies.

Maleficent or Blended? Hmmm...which one?

Whatever movie I decide to see, I will blog about the juicy details. Don't worry, I won't give any facts about the movie, but I'll let you know if either is worth seeing or not.

The movie theatre is my second home. My friend Chelsea and I go usually every weekend, (I know, I know, we are obsessed) we love movies. We have a "ritual" before we go to the actual movie theatre. First we shop until we drop, usually we hit up stores like: Bath and body works, sephora and target. When we are finished shopping, we choose a place to eat, most of the time it's Mcalisters, they have wonderful sandwiches and AMAZING sweet tea. Mcalisters recently started serving Watermelon Lemonade, and it is my ABSOLUTE favorite thing to drink right now. I highly recommend eating there.
After our feeding frenzy, we grab our candy (yes, more food) and head into the movie.

Movies have always been a "getaway" for me. When things aren't going quite right in life, you can getaway for an hour or so into someone else's life. It's a vacation for your brain.

As a woman I love to see romance films, but I most of the time want to see a comedy. I love to laugh, I want to laugh so hard that noise doesn't even come out of my mouth and tears stream down my face, that is the best kind if laughter.

So ladies...expect a Saturday morning blog about the movie that I choose.

In the meantime tell me about your movie experiences, what you like to eat at the movies, and who you like to take along.

Have a fab Friday ladies!! Live your life, be crazy and happy!!!
